This I CARE project focuses on the development of certain systems of higher education and stresses that improving higher education is a key strategy for regional economic development.
Through the I ICARE activities some critical factors that enable the partner universities in cooperation with enterprises enable the national higher educational systems to achieve a high level of success and which promote economic development while addressing the needs and objectives of involved countries and/or regions.
The university-enterprise (Health sector) network will reach and mobilize faculty members, administrative staff, researchers and students.
THe EU partner universities at the EU program countries like Sweden, Italy, Greece, and Estonia will transfer their Medical know-how, science, and knowledge and technology to universities in partenr countries (Egypt and Lebanon)
The outcome of this project can support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education in the involved Partner Countries.
In Egypt:
The education and training systems will be able to produce international skilled people who can create and use knowledge effectively, thus raising the quality of administrative decisions and capability at the country level.
Young people are shaped by their education experience. Provided with access to an information infrastructure that facilitates dialogue and exchange between people from different countries and cultures, they can get easy access to ideas and can contribute even further to national and international transformation.
The activities of the I CARE project also fits within most of the Egyptian medical faculties to provide "qualified professionals to work in healthcare sittings and to meet the increasing needs for competent professionals graduates by keeping up with the advancement of medical and health sciences around the world".
I CARE will address also the strategic goal of enhancing the quality of HE in general. It fits in the modernization agenda of the Egyptian universities as it states its mission as "continuous training to meet the needs of development" which it exactly addresses through establishing the I CARE Knowledge Centre. The centres will provide training for professionals and fresh graduates to update them with advancements which also encourage them to become lifelong learners as a basic requirement of the Egyptian strategy for HE.
In Lebanon:
The Lebanese strategy for higher education insists on offering " Education that provides quantitatively and qualitatively competent work force to meet the needs of the Lebanese market and that can compete in free job markets" (http://www.mehe.gov.lb).
In fact, this strategy is one of the main cores of I CARE. Establishing the centres that brings industry closer to university & integrate new competencies in the training and study curricula will make medical and health related graduates fit very well in the job market & increasing the rate of employment among them & enable them to compete not only locally but also internationally.
I CARE also addresses the BAU and NDU modernization & internationalization agenda "To promote the University’s international image as a global center of excellence in teaching and research and to support the quality of knowledge".
The project and its results will ensure the modernization of the process of interaction between academic and non academic institutions as well as students, the lecturer and hospitals. Accessibility of Centers and web portal and specialized services for innovative educational and training purposes will be achieved by organizing physical and remote access to it via the Internet.
